Cox, Thomas Richard

April 16, 1963 - February 1, 2026

Thomas Richard Cox, lovingly known as Tommy, passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 62.

Tommy was born on April 16, 1963, the son of Thomas and Libby Cox. He was the oldest brother to Michael, Brian, Karyn, and Susan, a role he carried throughout his life with a quiet sense of responsibility and strength.

Tommy grew up on Long Island in Deer Park, New York, where he spent his early years surrounded by family and lifelong memories. He worked in the Bronx, New York, until August 8, 1988. In 1989, he made a new start in Glendale, Arizona, eventually settling into life in the Southwest.

From the 1990s through the 2010s, Tommy devoted much of his life to caring for his Great Aunt Mollie in Sun City, Arizona, a testament to his loyalty, compassion, and deep commitment to family. He later moved to El Mirage, Arizona, until a house fire changed the course of his living situation. In the final years of his life, Tommy lived in Phoenix, Arizona, where he found comfort and companionship with his beloved cat, Blackjack.

Tommy is survived by his father, Thomas Cox; his brothers, Michael and Brian; his sisters, Karyn and Susan; and his only child, Jacklyn. He also leaves behind 12 nieces and nephews, two grandchildren, a great-nephew and long-time companion Kim Heisler, all of whom were part of the extended family he cared for deeply.

Tommy will be remembered for his dedication to family, his resilience through life’s challenges, and the quiet love he showed to those closest to him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

To my oldest cousin Tommy. I first met you on our first trip to America when I was 12, Chris was 8, and you were 18. A very cool and rebellious cousin. I last saw you in 2019 Thanksgiving weekend when we were across in the US. A quieter and thoughtful man. I know you had some incredibly challenging times, and yet the resilience and depth of character you showed were amazing.
May your soul journey be a good one. You have a cousin up there waiting for you – my little brother Chris. And I’m sure your mum is welcoming you home. Love and prayers for you and for all of the family and friends who love and miss you.
Love your cousin Jane and family xx
