Reid Hugh Ferguson

January 4, 1958 - January 10, 2026

Reid Hugh Ferguson died January 10, 2026 at Banner Thunderbird Hospital in Glendale, AZ at the age of 68.  The cause of death was heart failure due to longstanding diabetes complications.

He was born in Detroit, MI. on January 4, 1958 to Hugh G. and Fern B. Ferguson and is survived by three sisters;

Janice Hemker of Union City, MI., Susan Hanson-Gaynor of Redford, MI., and Kristie Ferguson of Westland, MI., along with 7 nieces and nephews.

Reid graduated from Ferndale High School in 1976 and went on to attend Western MI University and Control Data Institute.  He was a highly trained Network Engineer and was involved in developing and supporting technical training throughout the western United States.  His career began at Honeywell Information Systems, and in 1982 he lived and worked in Mexico City, Mexico during the 1982 doublet earthquake.  He transferred to San Diego, CA and worked on the U.S. Navy SNAP project, covering Guam, Hawaii, Japan and the Pacific coast where he maintained mainframe computers that lined the walls of submarines.  In 1984 he moved permanently to Phoenix, AZ, returning once or twice a year to visit his Michigan family at Thanksgiving or Christmas, which was enough to convince him that AZ was his forever home.  Reid established ProSales Engineering later in life and worked for multiple businesses on a project-assignment basis.

As a young man, he earned a brown belt in karate, took many scuba diving vacations, and was an avid firearms collector.

He was a former member of Vineyard Church in Glendale, active with the HTCIA, and a former member of AZIPA.

A complex and intense man, Reid was a private person and very much a loner in many respects, yet he enjoyed being with family, chatting and sharing stories, and debating topics he felt passionate about.

He was loved.

A small memorial is being planned for immediate family where he will be interred in Michigan with his mother and father,
