Richard Curtis Kennedy Jr.

October 1, 1976 - January 21, 2026

Richard Curtis Kennedy Jr., 49, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away suddenly at his home on January 21, He was born on October 1, 1976, in Ellensburg, He was raised in Ellensburg and graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1996.

For the last twenty years, Phoenix, Arizona, has been Rich’s home. Before his brain aneurysm in October 2013, Rich had a passion to become a massage therapist. He worked two jobs to make his dream come true. On the night of his graduation, his brain aneurysm occurred. He did receive his massage therapy degree! So proud of him. Everyone loved Rich’s work ethic, passion, and willingness to always be there for others. He always loved helping people when he could and would find ways to do so, even though times were financially tough for him. One time, he took a homeless person to lunch; he just wanted to make sure they had something to eat. That’s Rich for you, making sure others are taken care of. He had a huge heart, even though life was different since his brain aneurysm. Everyone who knew Rich loved him!! His Arizona family and Washington family!!

A special thank you to his Arizona family, who always loved him like their own son and brother. He will always have a special place in our hearts. Thank you to Kodie and Ann Walp, as well as his special friends who were also there for him, Charlie, Patrick, Alex, and many others.

Richard Curtis Kennedy, Jr. is survived by his two sisters, JoAnne Kennedy and her partner Eugene Loftus of Ellensburg, WA. Christine Kennedy, husband (Bryant Bullock) of Desert Aire, WA, and brother Joey Kennedy of Florida. His two beloved nieces, Callie Kennedy and Alyssa Kennedy. His lifelong best friend, Mike Stowe, and his wife, Lia, of Ellensburg, WA. I can’t forget his children (pets), his beloved tortoise Cj, and his precious cat Foxy Roxy.

Richard Curtis Kennedy Jr. was preceded in death by his grandmother, Veronica J. Rigsby; mother, Mary J. Kennedy; father, Richard C. Kennedy, Sr., and his best friend, Dave.

We plan to hold a memorial service at a later date as we are still figuring out the details.
